ABOUT ERIC ROE

Eric Roe is running for County Commissioner to ensure that Chester County reaches its full potential. As a State Representative for Pennsylvania’s 158th Legislative District from 2016 to 2018, Eric passed laws to protect families, help those in need, and allow job creators to grow our economy.

A firm believer in the free market and fiscal restraint, Eric has consistently held the line on taxes. He also passed legislation to reform the state’s pension systems to simultaneously protect taxpayers and state employees from promises the state could not actually keep. Meanwhile, Eric made historic investments in education to ensure our schools and students had the resources they needed to succeed, while prioritizing quality and accountability.  An advocate for those in the shadows, Eric also passed legislation to protect victims of domestic violence.

He holds a B.A. from American University in Washington, DC, where he studied political science as an undergraduate. He later earned his M.Sc. in public policy from University College London in the United Kingdom. A student of history, Eric has also studied the public and personal lives of the American founders during a resident fellowship at the John Jay Institute in Philadelphia in 2014.

Eric Roe has a mix of private sector, public sector, and non-profit experience.  He currently lives and works in Chester County, employed as a client services manager at a financial advisory firm located in Downingtown. He has previously served as the Administrative Analyst for Chester County Commissioner Michelle Kichline.  Prior to that, Eric worked as Special Assistant at the Chertoff Group, a homeland security consulting firm led by former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Michael Chertoff.  He also worked for various non-profits focused on issues like preserving the free-market economy and promoting fiscal responsibility in government.

Dedicated to our community, Eric has served numerous non-profit organizations here in Chester County.  He was on the board of directors of the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, and he continues to serve on the advisory council for the DVCCC’s CBIM (Coaching Boys Into Men) program that teaches adolescent boys how to have healthy relationships.  Eric has also volunteered as a citizenship teacher and ESL volunteer for an organization called La Comunidad Hispana, located in Kennett Square. Fluent in Spanish and French, Eric has gone abroad on multiple mission trips, including to Haiti, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and China to teach English and serve as an interpreter. He is also the first state-level official in Chester County to hold a town hall entirely in Spanish.

At the core of his ambition is the desire to see Chester County become the most family-friendly, business-friendly county in the nation someday. He wants to make it more affordable to live here, while also preserving Chester County’s landscapes and preventing overdevelopment. Eric’s rich professional, academic, and personal experiences have shaped these achievable goals, and he has a track record of furthering this mission.

Eric and his wife, Alice, live in West Bradford Township. They are the proud parents of three little boys and a newborn baby girl.
